<p>Reading is important for the students. It is needed to help the students in getting the information from the text. This was an experimental research that aimed to find out whether there was a significant effect of focused reading note technique toward students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade of SMAN 3 Pariaman. The design of this study was pre-test and post-test control group design. The population was the students at grade XI of SMAN 3 Pariaman and used cluster sampling technique to choose the sample of the research. The sample was grade of XI.5 as experimental class (34 students) and grade XI.6 as control class (34 students). Experimental class was taught by using focused reading note technique, and control class was taught by using conventional technique. The data of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula in order to test the hypothesis of the research. Based on the finding of the research it was found that t-calculate of students’ reading score in experimental class was 3.04 and t-table was 1.66. It means t-calculate bigger that t-table, then Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. It can be concluded that using of focused reading note technique gave significant effect on students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade of SMAN 3 Pariaman.</p>

<p>Learning a language means learning a culture. It is widely known that when people learn a new language, automatically they also learn the culture of the community even though do not learn it particularly. Consequently, understanding other culture can help learners to learn the language well. However, being successful in learning a new language is not the only goal for the learners. Unconsciously, a new idea and environment could influence their perspective and even characters. One of media that can affect learners easily is a textbook which may consist of a lot of reading materials. English students at IAIN Batusangkar read a lot of words, sentences, paragraphs, essays, articles, passages, journals and other reading materials that mostly written by western authors that expose many terms, language and live style, and also opposite view. The students’ need to know about English or American culture to help them learn English language well is a fact. On the other hand, their characters turn into more westernized and obscured their local culture is another serious fact. This article is written to describe the importance of cultural aspects; cultural awareness, the need of special attention on local culture, and the selection of appropriate reading materials to support the cultural issues in English as a foreign language classroom.</p>

<p>One of the basic problems in the learning process is the learning process that doesn’t pay attention to the social and cultural environment of the students. Social and cultural environment is an important potential that need to be studied by the researcher, academician or other educational expert. The lack of attention of the students toward the social and cultural problems in their environment is result of the lack of attention in giving them the awareness about the social and cultural problem it selves. Learning process with conventional ways contributes to the lack of attention in giving awareness of the social and cultural environment of the students. Conventional learning process tends to force the students to memorize as many concepts as possible even though the students sometime don’t even know what they mean. As the result, the learning process is not effective and also tends to be boring and finally it gives negative impact on students motivation. Therefore, a teacher in this case, should be creative and innovative in choosing the method/ model of teaching. Portfolio model of teaching is one of the constructive models of teaching where the students are expected to construct the knowledge through the learning process. Portfolio model of teaching stresses on the students centered learning process. It is not just a collection of students work that are compiled and collected, but it is a a collection of students work that are systematic and meaningful. The application of portfolio models of teaching can improve student’s motivation beginning from the early stage of learning. The steps and procedures of this model has some things in common with the method of research and it starts with identifying the problem, collecting information, studying the solution of the problem, proposing the solution of the problem, showcasing the problem and finally making actions. it can be concluded that portfolio teaching model can improve motivation since the early stage of teaching.</p>

<p>Student as candidate of entrepreneur should have ability to point at potential market. Occurred to transformation behavior of consumer shopping from offline become online bring out should be done the developing of learning material at entrepreneurship subject at University. This researching is Research and Development with model design of developing according to PUSTEKOM DEPDIKNAS by 7 developing phases. Result of researching suitable with research step which showing that 1. Surgery of Entrepreneurship Curriculum at university state that Entrepreneurship curriculum is not combine to necessary with developing of information technology especially trading through Internet Network, 2. Identification of Learning material which available right now not have relevance enough with developing of consuming behavior and global, 3. Developing of manuscript at selling material of good and service by online are done according to actual necessary of internet entrepreneur, 4. The beginning production of learning book is done after completing the manuscript, 5. Completing phase of learning book is done with validation of learning book by specialist of media and material by specialist of language material, 6. Experiment carried out to FKIP (Faculty of Teaching and Knowledge) Student amount 15 students to see which part should be revised, 7. The end of Revise after being experiment and se the result of effectively in using of learning book. Based on result of analysis validity which done by expert showing result 88% with valid category, Practicality 82% with practical category, and effectively 91% with very affectivity category.</p>

<p>The dominant complexities of English Teaching at Junior High School in teaching reading are about failing on the design of teaching instruction especially on learning materials and teaching methods which still could not give feedback on students’ need (in particular how to acquire knowledge and select the most effective learning strategies). This paper is aimed at discussing the ways how to comprehend descriptive text through combining PLAN ( Predict, Locate, Add, Note) and REAP (Read, Encode, Annotate, Ponder) Strategy. Through these strategies students are pushed to use a number of strategies such as relating text to prior knowledge, predict, questioning, summarizing, using imagery, and setting a purpose for reading. This way is an interesting alternative solution to teachers’ problem in teaching reading on decriptive text at Junior school. It should be understood by student in order that she/ he can comprehend a descriptive text completely. The student is not only demanded to identify information on the text but also is required to use their effort in how to work in group collaboration to achieve their goal. Furthermore, the student is also try to evaluate the messages given by the writer. For this purpose a reading teacher should be able to help a student to cope with this kind of strategies and they have to vary their ways in teaching reading. By using this strategy, it is expected that the students’ reading ability will increse and can motivate them in reading descrptive text.</p>

This research is motivated because in the Department of PTIK IAIN Bukittinggi for the calculus course, the process of learning that developed so far only lecturers present the material and formulas in learning by being recorded and display in media such as infocus. In addition, students only use mobile devices as a means of communication, playing games and accessing social media. So researchers make a mobile-based application that can be used as an independent learning media for students in Calculus courses. The type of research that the author uses is Research and Development (R & D). The author uses an ADDIE (AnalysisDesign-Develop-Implement- Evaluate) R & D. And the system development model of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) version of Waterfall. And test the product by using validity test, practicality and product effectiveness. Expert validity test results show that the designed application is declared valid with the value of 82.1%. While practicality test results show that the designed application is stated very practical with a value of 86.7%. The effectiveness test result also showed by the students that the designed application is declared very effective with 89.75% value. So the learning media in mobile-based calculus courses can be used and used by students of PTIK IAIN Bukittinggi.

<p>Improving IMTAQ always appears first as the goal of science education in every curriculum in all types and levels of education. The three pillars of Islamic science must clearly be built on the principle of monotheism in the sentence laa ilaaha illallaah, Ontological Pillars, Islam must accept material and nonmaterial reality, axiological Pillars, the goal of Islamic Science is to know the Creator through the patterns of creation, the epistemological pillar, the Qur'an as a source of intellectuality and spirituality of Islam. Science learning can enhance students' learning through learning materials that are 'unseen', science explains the scientific facts behind the prohibitions and commands of Allah, science affirms the existence of Alllah SWT and as an exposure of various secrets in the Qur'an.</p>

<p>This research is aimed to clarify the effectiveness of the applying of the active learning strategy question student have (QSH) Toward Learning Outcome Mathematics Students at Senior High School 3 Padang Panjang. The design of this study was randomized experiment with Control Group Only Design. The population of the research was all students of grade X in the second semester of academic year 2015/2016. The sample was two of fourth classes; both classes were X3 as experimental class and class X4 as a control class. The Instrument used observation sheet of students' mathematics learning activeness and test. The technique of analyzing data was the hypothesis t-test. The result of this research shown that means score of experiment class was 76.13 and average math learning outcomes means control class was 66.62 averages higher than the experimental class. The results of t-test analysis was obtained t = 6.46 and t table = 1, 67 on the real level of 0.05 with df = 56. t calculate> t table, then H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, so it is concluded that the applying of the active learning strategy with question student have (QSH) Provides a significant effect of the mathematics students activeness and achievement.</p>

School and environment can build many effects academic self-concept of each individual at first’s adolescent which academic self-concept in first’s adolescent is not a congenital or present at birth, but are build to the interaction with the outside first’s adolescent. Because the cognitive component causing emotional release and evaluative with varied intensity depending on the context and cognitive abilities. Where their ability to compare what one has and achieved what others have achieved may cause a different impression. So that what you have is lower than the property of others can pose a pessimistic view of self and lead to negative self-concept. The concept of individual positive or negative supports that cognitive behavior therapy approach is an alternative approach that can be used counselors provide guidance and counseling services to help client developing a positive self–concept. This approach is done by giving special treatments counselor at client. In the process of counseling, the counselor role as teachers, guide, and experts who diagnose maladaptive behavior and determine procedures to overcome the problem behavior. The counselor has a role to congruence or genuineness, the unconditional positive regard.

Logo counseling website aims to overcome gaps in self-esteem values and humanity values in the students. The limitations of physical mobility, psychological, and sexual supplemented by cultural stigma towards feeling of judgment and considered weak, are the obstacles of students to come to counseling. The purpose of logo counseling website is for students to identify strengths and weaknesses, to develop balanced core beliefs, to develop positive thinking assumptions, to develop realistic expectations, to develop balanced self-evaluation, to develop self-confidence, and to discover the meaning of life. Methods used in the website are email, chatting, voice call, and video call. Results from logo counseling website testing showed changes in students’ attitudes include three things: (1) students view the future with enthusiasm that this life needs to be fought for; (2) students discover the meaning of their life through potential, to separate and transcend themselves and to have integrity; (3) students change their attitudes regarding the changing circumstances, through self-evaluation for adjustment, introspection, and acceptance of innovative and constructive values.

<p>Four skills in English that should be mastered by the students they are; listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Reading is one of skills in English that influence the students in learning. Reading a foreign language is not easy job for the students, therefore, it is needed the strategy to help the students in getting meaning and information in reading. Bumper stickers strategy is one ways to help the students in understanding the passage in reading comprehension. The purpose of this paper is to expose the use of bumper stickers strategy in teaching reading comprehension; in pre, whilst, and post reading activity for junior high school students. There are some literatures study used supports this strategy in teaching reading comprehension. It is recommended for the teacher to use this strategy in teaching reading comprehension in order to help the students in learning.</p>

<p>The religious character building activities program for students at SMP Negeri 5 Batusangkar has shown maximum results. SMP Negeri 5 Batusangkar is one of the schools that accommodate students who are smart, who have graduated from primary school. After doing research, it turns out that they are not only smart in terms of cognitive and psychomotor alone, but also in terms of attitude or affective. Talking about affective means we will be talking about the characters, especially the religious character of the basic or foundation of any behavior. This makes the researchers became interested in conducting research at SMP Negeri 5 Batusangkar, to find out more about what are the process in developing the religious character of students at the junior high school 5 Batusangkar. All of the school community has made various efforts from planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities of religious character building of students at SMP Negeri 5 Batusangkar, thus achieving maximum results as expected. This activity has also been supported by all parties or school community, evidenced by the joint commitment in the planning and implementation of activities. Based on the explanation above, it is so clear that school community of SMPN 5 Batusangkar has done a good process, the planning until the evaluation. This is done in the process of forming students, who are smart and have good character.</p>

<p>Indonesia is in severe emergency situations for child abuse. It has becomes a national issue in the past years. Ironically, such abuses are enforced by people around the children, such as parents, either their real father or the step one, grandfather, uncle, older brother and even their their teachers. As a result, the abused children suffer from physical problems and traumatic psychological experiences which in turn cause bad impact on their mental health. Furthermore, the abuse children will also potentially cause other abuses to other children. To heal the trauma, efforts to reconstruct the mental health of the abused children should be urgently carried out to minimalize the unexpected problems in their future and they can grow properly as humans. This article tries to discuss some important issues concerning with child abuse, effects of the abuse and and reconstructive efforts for their better mental health due to the abuse they suffer from.</p>

<p>This background of the research was curriculum policy on the essence of integrating character values into learning, previous research in instructional materials in infusing character values on receiving and responding stages, and teacher’ difficulties in embedding the character education. Besides, hardly varieties instructional materials applied in English learning. The purposes of the studies are: to develop reading materials on English subject matter integrated into character values was valid, practical, and effective. This research and developmentused ADDIE model development procedures, consist of stages; analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The subject of the research was under taken in SMPN 5 Padangpanjang. This research used qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The findings of the studies can be concluded: first learning reading materials development of the English learning following stages, 1) conduct need analysis of English reading materials, 2) designing learning reading materials integrated into character values of the English subject matter, 3) develop learning reading materials integrated into character values in such: teacher’s book, student’s book, syllabus, lesson planning, 4) the implementation of reading materials development in the classroom, and 5) to carry out an assessment of implementation of leaning reading materials integrated character values. Second, learning reading materials of the research was showed valid, practical and effective.</p>

<p>The character formation of learners is the responsibility of all parties in the school (school community) and parties outside of school (parents, community and so on). This situation is due to the correlation between the fulfillment of the needs of learners with the formation of character, which can be assumed that "when the fulfillment of needs can be realized then the positive impact of fulfillment can be realized (the formation of positive characters)". The role of teacher guidance and counseling can help learners in finding ways to realize the fulfillment of the needs of learners. Teacher BK through counseling and guidance services will be able to provide solutions and advice in the effort to meet the needs of learners.</p>

<p>This classroom action research was conducted to see the improvement of students’ ability in speaking report text by using mind mapping. The research was done at the second year social class 5 (XI IS 5) SMAN 3 Padang Panjang in the 2013/2014 academic year in two cycles. There were twenty eight students in this class. The data were collected through pre-test, formative test and observation. The students were led to speak report text by using mind mapping and guided to speak it well. Through observation and formative test, it seemed that the students liked and enjoyed speaking report text. It could be seen from their achievement improved from cycle to cycle and their test results. The improvement got was 71 % in the first cycle and 81 % in the second cycle. In conclusion, the students’ speaking ability can be improved gradually if they know and understand what and how to speak and the use of the appropriate teaching aids is very important. One of the teaching aids that can be used to improve students’ ability in speaking report text is mind mapping. It is suggested to English teachers to use mind mapping in teaching speaking report text.</p>

<p>History notes that the idea of establishing an institution of Islamic religious education has actually been owned by Muslims since the Dutch era. After Indonesian independence, the development of Islamic education showed a better development. The presence of IAIN in society is basically a manifestation of a long-held aspiration in the hearts of Indonesian Muslims. at a later stage some IAIN and STAIN develop into UIN. In the long journey PTAIN in Indonesia has generated many graduates, both in strata one, strata two and three. The gait of its alumni has been widespread in the community, which includes as educators, da'i, bureaucrats, entrepreneurs and so forth. Currently, Islamic Religious Higher Education (PTKI), especially IAIN and STAIN are faced with issues concerning the output that has not been accommodated (involved / involved) adequately, if not maximized into various aspects of the needs of modern life. Whereas the demands of change continue to roll along with the changing times that seemed unstoppable. If following the identification of the problems of Islamic Higher Education, then the problems faced by PTKI are (1) The lack of growth of critical thinking and analytical thinking, (2) Students are not equipped with areas of expertise and qualifications that can be applied beneficially in the development process and, (3) Students to college are first to pursue status and a degree of diploma, not skill, skill and professionalism.</p>

<em>In the context of urban Indonesia economic community, several terms, such as paroan, prapatan, dan pertelon are quite popolar. Such terminology has influence economic activities whic have become tradition that supports profit sharing principles which is practiced by sharia banking. Such profit sharing practices basically aimes at creating justice and provide balances for economic users and their environments. Furthermore, profit sharing practices show partnership relation among enterprise practitioners; more than just the relationship between superiors and subordinators. This kind of spirit does not end in profit oriented only but also establishing human based relationship which aimes at helping and caring one another. Dealing with the nature of the sprit above, sharia economic practitioners should have been energized and inspired and able to realize them in more real and synergical economic relationship. However, one important thing that they usually forget in developing business institution is lack of understanding toward the culture of the society where they build business, including sharia banking. Understanding toward local culture and wisdom of the society is one of the significant factors required in designing, harmonizing, and developing business. This implies that a busines institution should not aim at corporate oriented only. Infact, it should have relations of socio-culture) and coorporate social responsibility.</em>

وقد شرف الله تعالى اللغة العربية وخصها بأمرين عظيمين حيث أنزل بها كتابه ولصطفى رسوله من أهلها ومن الناطقين بها فكانت وعاء لأصلي الإسلام العظيمين: القرآن والسنة فلايمكن للمسلم أن يؤدى العبادات والواجبات كلها على الوجه الصحيح ما لم يكن ذامعرفة صحيحة قوية بالدين والقرآن. فمادامت اللغة العربية قد وسعت كتاب الله بأعلى درجات الفصاحة والبلاغة، حتى أعجز أهل اللسان، فيثبت ضرورة ألا يفهمه إلا من يعرف العربية معرفة تمكنه من فهم دقائق معانيه. ومادام القرآن الكريم هو مادة الإسلام ، حتى لا تحرج عن الخط الذى رسمه القرآن، والغاية التى يهدف إليها، وبيان ذلك من خلال، إطار عام هو : أهمية اللغة العربية فى دراسة الشريعة الإسلامية .
